Jimmy Wayne Gill died on March 27, 2016, at age 68 after serving as a faithful member of Oak Grove Christian Methodist Episcopal Church for 42 years.

Mr. Gill was elected to the Athens City Council in 1992 and represented District 3 for more than two decades; a park was named in his honor in 2008 and a room at the Pincham-Lincoln Center Trinity-Fort Henderson Complex was recently named for him.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Deborah Gill; three children; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his mother; three sisters; and three brothers.

The House of Representatives records his death with deep sadness and celebrates his life as a valued community member while extending heartfelt sympathy to his family.
