Kingwood Christian School Concert Band won the Festival Disney Competition at Walt Disney World in Orlando in March 2016, receiving a superior rating and the Gold Mickey Trophy.

The band scored 97.7, the highest score of all concert bands in the competition, and received the "Best in Class Award" for Class A.

The band is comprised of 6 high school students and 13 middle school students who competed against bands with mostly older members, with 3 members playing two different instruments.

Band Director Tyra Cutcher provided leadership and guidance, noting it is "almost unheard of for a school of the size of Kingwood to win the Gold Mickey Award for all concert bands."

The House of Representatives honors and commends the Kingwood Christian School Concert Band and Director Tyra Cutcher for their achievement and extends best wishes for continued success.
