Commemorates the death of Perry Oliver Hooper, Sr., who died on April 24, 2016, at age 91, and was a native of Montgomery, Alabama.

Recognizes Hooper as the first Republican in Alabama history to be elected Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court on November 8, 1994.

Notes his prior judicial service as the first elected Republican probate judge of Montgomery County (elected 1965, reelected 1970) and as Circuit Judge of the 15th Judicial Circuit (1974-1983).

Details his active involvement with the National Center for State Courts, Association of Chief Justices, and numerous Alabama judicial committees and councils.

Acknowledges his survivors including his wife of 63 years, Marilyn Yost Hooper, four children, and extended family.
