Honors the death and life of Mr. Melvin J. Murphree, who died on April 19, 2016, at age 77.

Recognizes Murphree's professional achievements, including membership in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and service as Chair of the Birmingham Society of Manufacturing Engineers and member of the Industrial Development Board for Pelham.

Celebrates his community service as Chair of the Salvation Army Advisory Board for Shelby County, member and leader of the Pelham Lions Club, and Deacon at Briarwood Presbyterian Church since 1989.

Acknowledges his military service in the Alabama National Guard from 1962 to 1968 and his contributions to entertainment and culture as President of the Jackals Dance Club and Birmingham Fraternal Council of Dance Clubs.

Extends sympathy to his surviving family, including his wife of 35 years, Dianna Brown Murphree, and five children and grandchildren.
