Commends the Homewood Boys Basketball Team for winning the 2016 AHSAA Class 6A State Championship with a 54-51 victory over Muscle Shoals, the school's first basketball state title.

Team finished the season with a 30-5 record, won the Class 6A Central Regional Tournament, Rebel Classic Tournament, and Steel City Tournament, and defeated Class 5A, 3A, and 1A State Champions plus the defending 7A State Champions.

Luke Touliatos was named 6A Championship All-Tournament MVP and ASWA 6A All State Basketball Team; Austin Patterson finished with 15 points and 3 assists and was also named to the ASWA 6A All State Basketball Team; Peyton Brown made two crucial free throws in the final moments of the championship game.

Head Coach Tim Shepler and assistant coaches Rick Baguley, Austin Thames, Chet Walker, and Fred Martinear provided leadership; Student Manager Myles Butler assisted throughout the season.
