Recognizes the Sacred Harp singers of the Henagar community on the 100th and 130th sessions of the Henagar-Union Convention at Liberty Church on Saturday, July 2, and Sunday, July 3, 2016.

Sacred Harp or "shape-note" a cappella singing is a traditional vocal music style featuring untrained voices offering personal testimonies, eulogies, hymns, and prayers.

The Henagar-Union Convention is the largest Sacred Harp singing event held in a rural church in the United States, attracting singers from more than 20 states, Canada, the United Kingdom, and other foreign countries.

Liberty Church community has preserved this unique music style and its traditions over 70 years despite declining Sacred Harp singing participation in rural Alabama.

The House of Representatives commends the Sacred Harp Singers of Liberty Church on Sand Mountain in DeKalb County, Alabama for their outstanding contributions as supporters of the arts and cultural heritage.
