SB140 Summary

• Authorizes driver education instructors at private driving schools to be certified, approved, and trained by the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency to administer driver's license examinations.

• Requires the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency to develop and provide annual continuing education programs for all third party testing agents to maintain their certification.

• Mandates that a photograph of the applicant be attached to the examination report and related documents after the applicant passes the driving portion of the driver's license examination.

• Updates terminology throughout Section 32-6-3 of the Code of Alabama 1975, replacing "Department of Public Safety" and "Director of Public Safety" with "Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency" and "Secretary."

• Takes effect on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
