AL SB23

Creates a new crime of aggravated child abuse of a child under age six, establishing Section 26-15-3.3 in the Alabama Code.

Defines aggravated child abuse as violations of existing child abuse law (Section 26-15-3) that occur on more than two occasions, violate a court order or injunction, or cause serious physical injury to the child.

Classifies aggravated child abuse of a child under age six as a Class A felony.

Exempts the bill from Amendment 621 requirements since it defines a new crime rather than imposing new local expenditure requirements.

Effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
