• Defines over-the-counter spectacles as nonprescription, ready-to-wear magnifying glasses containing spherical convex lenses intended to treat presbyopia.

• Limits lens power in over-the-counter spectacles to a maximum of plus three and one-half diopters (+3.50) with no minus power (-) allowed.

• Prohibits the sale of over-the-counter spectacles that do not conform to the statutory definition.

• Authorizes the Board of Optometry, district attorneys, and the Attorney General to enforce violations of the act.

• Takes effect on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
