SB334 Summary

• Establishes a program allowing eligible 11th and 12th grade students unconditionally admitted to Alabama public postsecondary institutions to take all their courses at those institutions and receive high school credit toward graduation requirements.

• Requires the Department of Education to pay eligible institutions the lesser of either actual tuition costs or the amount the student would have earned the local school system in equivalent instructional programs, less a $200 records fee.

• Prohibits eligible institutions from charging students for coursework taken under the program and requires they accept state payments as full compensation.

• Creates a misdemeanor offense for anyone who knowingly makes false statements or misrepresentations to enable an institution to wrongfully obtain program payments.
