SB339 Summary

• Abolishes the EMS Advisory Board and removes references to it from the Board of Health's rulemaking authority for emergency medical services.

• Adds eight new members to the State Emergency Medical Control Committee (SEMCC): one physician appointed by the Alabama Hospital Association and seven licensed paramedics appointed by ambulance, rescue, fire, and air medical services organizations.

• Grants all SEMCC members explicit voting privileges, including medical directors and ex officio members who previously had voting status only by implication.

• Requires SEMCC membership to reflect racial, gender, geographic, urban/rural, and economic diversity of the state.

• Takes effect immediately upon Governor's approval or upon becoming law by other means.
