SB354 Summary

• Extends the restriction on licensing applicants whose real estate license was rejected or revoked in any state to include rejections/revocations occurring more than two years prior to Alabama application, requiring commissioners' approval for licensure.

• Requires the Alabama Real Estate Commission to conduct both state and national criminal history background checks before issuing any real estate license.

• Mandates applicants submit required information and fingerprints to the commission, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency, or a fingerprint processing service selected by the commission.

• Places the cost of criminal history checks on the applicant and requires the criminal history to be current at the time of license issuance.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
