SB73 Summary

• Increases daily salary for each member of a board of registrars from $60 to $100 per day for attendance on board business, amending Section 17-3-5 of the Code of Alabama 1975.

• State Comptroller shall issue monthly payments to county commissions sufficient to cover registrar salaries plus employer share of Social Security and Federal Insurance Corporation Act taxes.

• Registrars remain eligible for mileage allowance equal to the greater of state employee or county employee rates for official travel and continuing education attendance.

• Travel and other expenses are paid by county commissions with state reimbursement based on written requests to the state Comptroller.

• Act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
