SB82 Summary

• Redesignates the licensure classification "graduate social worker" to "master social worker" and "certified social worker" to "independent clinical social worker" under the State Board of Social Work Examiners.

• Adds "assessment and diagnosis" to the definition of social work practice activities.

• Allows persons currently licensed under the old titles to continue using prior designations for two years or until the board reissues an appropriate redesignated license.

• Updates all references throughout Alabama Code sections 34-30-1 through 34-30-33 to reflect the new licensure titles while maintaining existing qualification requirements and procedures.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
