• Celebrates the life and legacy of Mrs. Mary Ella Walker Proffitt, who died February 7, 2016, at age 92.

• Mrs. Proffitt was born December 8, 1923, graduated from Dunbar High School in Bessemer, Alabama, and was an active member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

• She was the mother of Senator Priscilla Dunn and is survived by her husband Johnnie A. Proffitt, daughter, stepchildren, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

• The Alabama Legislature expresses gratitude for her abundant life and offers this resolution in tribute to her legacy and in sympathy to her family and friends.

• Senate adopted the resolution on February 11, 2016, and the House of Representatives adopted it on February 16, 2016.
