Commends Taiwan's democratization efforts and its sixth direct presidential election held in 2016, recognizing it as a beacon of democracy in Asia.

Affirms Alabama's sister-state relationship with Taiwan since 1983 and recognizes Taiwan as the United States' tenth largest trading partner.

Supports Taiwan's participation in international organizations including the World Health Organization, International Civil Aviation Organization, and United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Encourages closer economic partnerships between the United States and Taiwan, including potential Bilateral Investment Agreement, Free Trade Agreement, and inclusion in the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit a copy of the resolution to the Director General of the Taipei Economic and Culture Office in Atlanta.
