SJR81 Summary

• Establishes a Joint Legislative Committee to Study Self-Driving Vehicles composed of 4 Alabama Senate members appointed by the Senate President Pro Tempore and 4 House members appointed by the Speaker of the House.

• Committee membership must reflect the racial, gender, geographic, urban/rural, and economic diversity of the state.

• Committee shall study all aspects of self-driving vehicles with specific focus on public safety issues and state and local economic impacts.

• Committee must report findings and any proposed legislation to the Speaker of the House and President Pro Tempore of the Senate by the tenth day of the 2017 Regular Session, after which the committee dissolves.
