• Creates a Senate Task Force on the Transition of Alabama Unemployed Coal Miners to expedite implementation of the federal Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) POWER Initiative in Alabama.

• Task force membership consists of Senator Greg Reed, Senator Gerald Allen, and Senator Priscilla Dunn.

• Task force shall organize local communities and regional stakeholders to develop plans for transitioning unemployed coal workers to employed workers, focusing on community needs, employment barriers, and available assets.

• Primary objectives include maximizing projects for economic diversification, job creation, capital investment, skills training, reemployment opportunities, and reviewing infrastructure and engineering needs.

• Task force may be expanded to include multiple communities, counties, and regions across Alabama and ARC member states with support from other legislators, and shall report regularly to the Legislature on progress.
