Municipal judges or magistrates of the City of Brighton in Jefferson County may assess a $100 warrant recall fee for recalling failure to appear warrants arising from municipal ordinance violations.

The warrant recall fee must be paid by the defendant at the time the warrant is recalled.

Warrant recall orders are issued solely at the discretion of the municipal judge or magistrate, and the city is not required to recall any warrant.

All warrant recall fee revenue collected by the City of Brighton Municipal Court shall be deposited into the City of Brighton Corrections Fund and allocated in accordance with Alabama Code Section 11-47-7.1(a).

The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
