HB105 Summary

• Continues the existence and functioning of the Board of Nursing until October 1, 2021, pursuant to Alabama's Sunset Law.

• Amends Section 34-21-2 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to allow successor organizations to assume nominating authority previously held by the Alabama Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses, Incorporated, the Alabama State Nurses' Association, and the Licensed Practical Nurses Association of Alabama.

• Maintains the 13-member board composition with 8 licensed professional nurses, 4 licensed practical nurses, and 1 consumer member, with board members appointed by the Governor from nominee lists furnished by the specified nursing organizations or their successors.

• Preserves all existing powers and duties of the Board of Nursing, including licensing, regulation, approval of nursing educational programs, and enforcement of professional standards.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
