AL HB14

Authorizes elected officials in Class 8 municipalities who serve as ex officio members to designate another person to serve in their place on any state or local agency, board, commission, or other entity.

Designee assumes all duties of the elected official including voting rights and is counted as a member for conducting business.

Prohibits elected officials from appointing a convicted felon as designee unless that person's civil rights have been restored.

Designee serves at the pleasure of the elected official and for the duration of the elected official's term of office.

Act applies to general or local laws enacted before, on, or after the effective date and becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
