• Removes the requirement for corporate officers and limited liability company members to file workers' compensation exemption certifications with the Alabama Department of Labor; filing with the employer's insurance carrier alone is sufficient.

• Expands exemption eligibility to include members of limited liability companies, in addition to corporate officers who can annually elect to be exempt from workers' compensation coverage.

• Specifies that exemptions remain in effect continuously unless properly revoked, including across subsequent coverage years with the same workers' compensation carrier.

• Requires those seeking to revoke an exemption outside of calendar year-end to execute an affidavit verifying they have not suffered any employment accident, exposure, or injury since the exemption took effect.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
