City councils in Class 3 municipalities organized under Act 618 of 1973 must adopt procedures within 90 days for investigating police shootings, police brutality, and other police misconduct.

The adopted procedures must include compensation provisions for victims or their heirs at law for injuries or death resulting from police shootings, brutality, or misconduct.

Claims for investigation and compensation may be filed at any time by the victim or, if the victim died, by their heirs under law.

All conflicting laws are repealed upon enactment of this legislation.

The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and gubernatorial approval or upon otherwise becoming law.
