HB27 Summary

• Amends Section 34-3-6 of the Alabama Code to permit attorneys holding special law licenses to provide pro bono legal services organized through or recognized by the Alabama State Bar Association.

• Pro bono legal services provided under this authorization may not be considered private practice of law.

• The exception applies to all Alabama-licensed attorneys, whether holding special or regular licenses, unless their employer prohibits such participation.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
