• Imposes a $30 booking fee on each person booked into Talladega County Jail and subsequently convicted of a crime.

• Fee is assessed by court clerk upon conviction, collected in the same manner as court costs, and applied in addition to any fines, court costs, or other charges.

• Revenues distributed equally: $15 to Talladega County Sheriff's Department Law Enforcement Fund and $15 to Talladega County District Attorney Fund for office operations.

• Sheriff may withhold inmate funds equal to the booking fee amount to satisfy the assessment; withheld funds must be repaid if defendant is acquitted or charges are dismissed.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and governor approval.
