HB414 Summary

• Repeals restrictions on carrying or possessing firearms on certain property, in motor vehicles, and in wildlife management areas for persons with or without concealed pistol permits.

• Amends Section 13A-11-61.2 to maintain firearm prohibitions only at specific locations: law enforcement buildings, detention facilities, psychiatric care facilities, courthouses, and athletic events (unless permit holder).

• Allows firearms in locked vehicles at sheriff's offices that issue pistol permits, and permits storage of lawfully possessed firearms in employee vehicles in parking areas under specified conditions.

• Requires entities with authority over restricted premises to post notices at public entrances indicating firearms are prohibited.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and Governor approval.
