HB 529 Summary

• Amends Section 45-39A-10 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to authorize the sale of alcoholic beverages for off-premises consumption on Sundays after 12:00 p.m. in the City of Florence, Lauderdale County.

• Authorizes the City of Florence governing body to regulate and permit Sunday alcohol sales for both on-premises and off-premises consumption by properly licensed retail licensees of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.

• Requires the City of Florence to hold a referendum to determine voter approval for on-premises alcohol sales on Sundays, with authorization contingent on majority voter support.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.
