AL HB71

Expands the definition of "building" in Alabama law to include any structure used for any purpose by an educational institution.

Authorizes law enforcement officers to arrest a person without a warrant when they have reasonable cause to believe the person has committed trespass on the premises of an educational institution.

Defines "educational institution" to include public or private colleges, universities, graduate schools, professional schools, junior community colleges, trade schools, elementary schools, secondary schools, and institutions for education and training of the deaf, blind, or individuals with developmental disabilities.

Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
