HB84 Summary

• Amends Alabama Code sections 2-15-41, 2-15-61, 2-15-91, 2-15-92, 2-15-131, and 2-15-133 to update and streamline language relating to livestock markets, livestock dealers, and weighmasters regulated by the Department of Agriculture and Industries.

• Merges permitting requirements for livestock markets to eliminate duplicative requirements while maintaining existing permit fee structures (up to $37.50 for dealers, up to $20.00 for weighmasters).

• Repeals Sections 2-15-93 and 2-15-95 containing duplicative language relating to the weighing of livestock.

• Repeals Sections 2-15-115 to 2-15-127 relating to the Alabama Public Livestock Market Board and the requirement that livestock markets be chartered by the board.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
