• Worked at Gayfers Department Store in Mobile where she earned numerous awards for sales and teamwork; married Thomas Richard Amesbury in July 1949 and had two daughters, Patsy and Kathy; later married Gene Donaldson in April 1978.

• Survived by two daughters, eight grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren; preceded in death by parents, eight siblings, and one son-in-law.

• Adopted by the Alabama House of Representatives on March 14, 2017, and by the Senate on March 15, 2017.
