Commends Dr. Richard Showers for 28 years of outstanding service to the Huntsville City Council, serving District 1 from October 3, 1988 to October 2016.

Recognizes Dr. Showers's 36 years of service as an educator in the Huntsville City School System before retiring on June 30, 2005.

Notes his numerous accolades including the Greater Interdenominational Ministerial Fellowship Award, NAACP Award for Excellence, Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Award, and NAFEO Distinguished Alabama A and M University Alumni/Presidential Citation.

Acknowledges his active membership and leadership roles at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, including service as a Deacon, Laymen Department member, and Senior Adult Sunday School Teacher.
