Mourns the death of Emily Golson Armistead of Columbiana, Alabama, who died on March 23, 2017.

Emily Golson Armistead graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery in 1964 and from Samford University in Birmingham in 1968 as a member of Phi Mu Sorority.

She was a faithful member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church since 1979 and was married to former State Senator and Alabama Republican Party Chairman William Cole "Bill" Armistead, Jr., for 49 years.

Survivors include her husband, two children (Alyson Allred and William Cole "Beau" Armistead, III), and five grandchildren; she was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ruth Golson.

The Alabama Legislature expresses gratitude for her abundant life and offers this resolution in tribute to her legacy and in sympathy to her family and friends.
