Congratulates and commends Keith York, principal of Opelika Middle School in the Opelika City School System, as the 2017-2018 Middle School Principal of the Year for Alabama.

Recognizes York's educational background including a Bachelor's Degree from Auburn University (1993) and a Master's Degree and Educational Specialist Degree from Troy University (2000 and 2002).

Credits York with implementing the "Be Nice" initiative and advisory periods that created a culture of respect and safety, resulting in the 2016-2017 Alabama Safe School Award.

Acknowledges York's creation of a Skills/Enrichment period providing reading and math enrichment and project-based learning that improved ACT Aspire proficiency results.
