Commends and congratulates Julie Pierce, principal of Fairhope Elementary School in Baldwin County, on her selection as the 2017 National Distinguished Principal of the Year for Alabama.

Julie Pierce earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Alabama in 1984, a master's degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1988, and a certificate in education administration from the University of South Alabama in 2004.

Julie Pierce has served as an educator for 27 years, including 12 years as an administrator.

Julie Pierce has created a learning environment where parents and the community are engaged in partnerships to assure success for children in school and in life.

The National Association of Elementary School Principals and the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators recognized Julie Pierce for setting high standards for instruction, student achievement, and character.
