Mourns the death of Mr. James Dudley Pewitt, who died on March 14, 2017, at age 86.

Recognizes Pewitt's educational achievements including degrees from Vanderbilt University and University of Southern California, with honors in Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Xi, Beta Gamma Sigma, and Omicron Delta Kappa.

Honors his 23-year Air Force career as Colonel, including service as member of 97th Fighter Squadron, test pilot, and Special Assistant to Secretary of Air Force (Finance), with over 100 combat missions in Vietnam and multiple military decorations.

Acknowledges his post-military career as Senior Vice President for Administration at University of Alabama at Birmingham and his service as Chair of the Board and Director of the Southern Museum of Flight.

Expresses gratitude for his life and extends sympathy to his widow Betty Hightower Pewitt (64-year marriage), three sons, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and extended family.
