Jim Chesnutt announced his retirement from the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators (AAESA) and the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS) effective June 30, 2017.

Mr. Chesnutt served as an educator in Alabama for 24 years and as an administrator for 17 years in the Tuscaloosa City School System, holding positions including physical education teacher, assistant principal, and principal at multiple schools.

Mr. Chesnutt earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama in 1980 and a master's degree from the University of Alabama in 1988.

Mr. Chesnutt served as CLAS Membership Consultant (2004-2006), CLAS Legislative Coordinator (since 2008), assistant executive director for AAESA (since 2008), Motivated Data Specialist (since 2006), and Motivated Data State Coordinator (since 2016).
