Nominates Senior Conservation Enforcement Officer Thomas C. Traylor of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for the 2017 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement.

On July 9, 2016, Officer Traylor responded to a hostage situation in Randolph County where a suspect had barricaded himself in a travel trailer and fired on deputies, gravely injuring one officer.

Officer Traylor immediately returned fire and continued engaging the suspect while providing aid and cover for surrounding officers during a multi-hour standoff involving state and local law enforcement from multiple jurisdictions.

The standoff ended when the suspect took his own life; Officer Traylor's actions prevented further harm to the injured deputy, other officers, and civilians in the area.

The House of Representatives recognizes Officer Traylor for demonstrating extraordinary courage, quick response, and commitment to protecting Randolph County residents.
