Recognizes Officer Zack Tutten of the Lincoln Police Department for receiving the 2017 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, the state's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

Officer Tutten responded to a domestic assault call on May 28, 2016, at a Discount Food Mart in Lincoln, Alabama and called for paramedic assistance for the female victim.

The male suspect returned to the store with a pistol grip shotgun and attempted to enter while pointing the weapon at people inside; Officer Tutten commanded him to drop the weapon, but the suspect pointed the shotgun at the officer, forcing him to fire and fatally wound the suspect.

Officer Tutten's actions prevented the suspect from killing or harming at least six people including store employees, the original assault victim, firefighter/medics, and customers.

The House of Representatives directs that Officer Zack Tutten receive a copy of this resolution as evidence of the legislature's admiration and esteem.
