Commends William R. Battle for his professional achievement and dedicated service upon his retirement as Director of Athletics at The University of Alabama.

Battle led the Crimson Tide athletics department since March 2013, succeeding the late Mal Moore, utilizing his business expertise and coaching experience.

Under Battle's leadership, the Crimson Tide achieved a 92 Graduation Success Rate in 2016 (second in the SEC) and ranked first or tied for first in nine different sports.

Battle revitalized the Bryant Society, Alabama's highest level of donors exceeding one million dollars, growing membership from nine in 2013 to twenty-six in 2016.

Battle will continue serving The University of Alabama in a new role as Special Assistant to the President.
