Commends Captain Eugene D. Thomas for outstanding professional achievement and 35 years of exceptional service in law enforcement with the Birmingham Police Department.

Captain Thomas began his law enforcement career with the Birmingham Police Department in August 1981, working as a recruit in the Birmingham City Jail in 1982 and graduating from the police academy in January 1983.

Throughout his career, Captain Thomas served in Vice Narcotics, Homicide Division, Family Services, as a patrol officer, Day Shift Commander of North Precinct, Head of Security for Mayor Richard Arrington's Office, and as Captain in the Records Department.

Captain Thomas is retiring as Captain with Crimes Against Property and is survived by his wife Brenda, three children, and five grandchildren.

The House of Representatives honors and commends Captain Thomas for his remarkable service in law enforcement and extends sincere best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
