House of Representatives resolution mourning the death of Roy Messer of Clanton, Alabama, who died on April 25, 2017, at age 76.

Messer was born June 23, 1940, studied music at the University of Montevallo, served as ordained deacon at Friendship Baptist Church, and was a music minister at New Salem Church.

Retired from BellSouth, Messer was known for hunting and collecting rare rocks, minerals, and gemstones from around the world.

Survived by his wife Dorothy Messer, daughter Monica Cooper (who served as administrative assistant for Senator Jabo Waggoner), son-in-law Andy McAllister, and five grandchildren.

Resolution celebrates Messer's life of service and purpose, extends sympathy to his family, and provides a copy of the resolution as sincere tribute and honor.
