Rabbi Jonathan Miller is commended for his distinguished professional achievement and nearly three decades of service as Senior Rabbi of Temple Emanu-El in Birmingham, Alabama, the largest Jewish congregation in the state.

Miller led a multi-million dollar building campaign from 1998-2000 that renovated, updated, and expanded the temple's facilities and solidified its presence on Birmingham's Southside.

Miller was instrumental in establishing one of the nation's most substantial endowments benefiting a Jewish congregation of its size and furthered the study of Torah and Jewish traditions throughout the community.

Miller built interfaith relations among clergy and ministry of all faiths in the greater Birmingham area and created an interfaith group of clergy from Southside Birmingham to foster greater understanding among religious institutions.

The House of Representatives honors Miller and directs that a copy of this resolution be presented to him with sincere best wishes for future endeavors.
