Mourns the death of Samuel Jenkins, Sr. of Daphne, Alabama, who died on February 25, 2017, at age 90.

Recognizes Jenkins' military service as a Technician IV in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

Honors Jenkins' career as a potato farmer, independent trucker, Industrial Specialist for the Alabama State Employment Service, and Del Monte Banana Company employee.

Acknowledges Jenkins' service as the first African-American Commissioner and Chair of the Baldwin County Commission and his leadership roles on the State Democratic Executive Committee and county human resources and intergovernmental relations committees.

Extends sympathy to his surviving sons Samuel Jr., Alvin, Fenton, and Cedric; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
