AL SB101

Prohibits public institutions of higher education, local boards of education, and public schools from expending public funds to advocate for electors to vote in favor of or against statewide or local ballot measures.

Applies the prohibition to activities enumerated in Section 17-17-5(b)(1) of the Code of Alabama 1975 that are intended to advocate for or against a ballot measure.

Permits providing neutral information on ballot issues that does not advocate for a specific voter action.

Allows public entities to continue making contributions or dues payments to trade associations in which they hold membership.

Becomes effective on the first day of the fourth month following passage and approval by the Governor.
