AL SB163

Entitles an alleged father to a paternity test if a woman alleges him to be the father of her child, either born or unborn.

Requires the person requesting the test to prove that the mother made the allegation by spoken word or by publication.

Requires the person requesting the paternity test to pay all costs associated with the test.

Preserves existing rights of persons to acknowledge paternity or claim paternity by registering with the state putative father registry under Chapter 10C of Title 26 of the Code of Alabama 1975.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
