AL SB166

Proposes a constitutional amendment to require all proposed statewide or local constitutional amendments to be submitted to voters at either a statewide primary or general election.

Requires all referendums proposed by state or local law to be submitted at either a statewide primary or general election rather than at special elections.

Requires all referendums called by the state or by any county, municipality, or other local governing body to be submitted at statewide primary or general elections.

Overrides existing Sections 284 and 284.01 of the Alabama Constitution and any other conflicting law.

Amendment becomes effective upon approval by a majority of qualified electors voting thereon in accordance with existing constitutional procedures.
