SB190 Summary

• Requires the local board of registrars to notify absentee voters by mail of the reason their absentee ballot was not counted after each election.

• Rejected ballots must be delivered to the local board of registrars, which shall issue a written notice to the voter within 10 calendar days after the election stating the cause of rejection.

• Notices of rejection shall be sent to voters by first class mail and a copy retained by the office of the local judge of probate for a minimum of one year.

• Within 10 calendar days after each election, the sheriff shall collect all rejected ballots.

• The Secretary of State shall promulgate rules necessary to implement this requirement; the act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval.
