Reclassifies new employees hired by the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency after the effective date who are certified by the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission to participate in the State Employees' Retirement System as Tier II state policeman members.

Automatically converts employees classified as law enforcement officers beginning January 1, 2015, to Tier II state policeman status as of the bill's effective date.

Allows converted employees to elect to convert prior service credit earned as law enforcement officers to state policeman service credit for the period from January 1, 2015, to the effective date by paying the difference in employee contributions plus interest.

Amends Section 41-27-7, Code of Alabama 1975, relating to the State Employees' Retirement System.

Becomes effective immediately upon passage and gubernatorial approval or upon otherwise becoming law.
