SB219 Summary

• Transfers the Information Services Division from the Department of Finance to the Office of Information Technology effective October 1, 2017.

• Establishes the Office of Information Technology as a cabinet-level agency headed by a Secretary of Information Technology appointed by the Governor, serving as the state Chief Information Officer.

• Secretary of Information Technology must be in unclassified service, receive Governor-determined salary, and post a bond of at least $50,000; may employ up to two deputy secretaries and six specialized IT professionals exempt from Merit System.

• All books, records, supplies, funds, equipment, and personnel of the Information Services Division transfer to the Office of Information Technology without loss of employee salary, benefits, seniority, or Merit System classification.

• Authorizes the Department of Finance Division of Purchasing to enter into joint purchasing agreements and multi-vendor awards for information technology goods and services on behalf of the Office of Information Technology.
