SB234 Summary

• Amends Alabama Code Sections 28-3A-6 and 28-4A-3 to clarify that manufacturers and brewpubs are not required to maintain name, address, or other personal demographic information for certain sales of alcoholic beverages.

• Manufacturer licensees engaged in off-premises sales of beer (limited to 288 ounces per customer per day) and liquor (limited to 750 milliliters per customer per day) are exempt from demographic record-keeping requirements.

• Brewpub licensees selling packaged beer for off-premises consumption (limited to 288 ounces per customer per day) are also exempt from maintaining customer demographic information for those sales.

• Manufacturers and brewpubs must still maintain records for three years of all off-premises sales but are not required to collect or retain customer names, addresses, or personal demographic data.

• The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
